Audience Questions

  • Tell me a bit about yourself. Where are you from? What is your job?

  • Where do you live? Do you live in an apartment or a house?

  • Tell me some about your rental experience.

  • How do you usually pay rent? Can you elaborate on the process of paying your rent?

  • Are you satisfied with the current payment method? Do you think convenient for you?

  • How often do you use your mobile phone to pay?

  • Can you try the 3-minute exercise of navigating My Equity app?

    • Try to find [Community News] and make a comment

    • Try to find [make a payment]

    • Try filling out the full payment information

  • Have you paid the rent with a mobile app? If you haven’t used other apps to pay, do you think mobile payment needs improvement?

Conclusion & Key Points

  1. I pay rent with a check every month, which is not convenient. My apartment manager doesn’t accept any mobile payment. It’s also important to let the apartment accept mobile payments.

  2. I think the payment page is clean and straightforward, but I don’t like the apartment ad on the payment page, which make people feel not trustable.

  3. The payment function on the main page is straightforward and good, but I am sure what these messages are and why they occupy such a large position on the homepage. I don’t know why these comments are on the main page.

Conclusion & Key Points

  1. Our community can use mobile payment. However, I have never used it or downloaded it. I usually pay my rent online.

  2. I used to pay rent with a check. I need to send the check to the leasing office,  but sometimes there is no one in the leasing office or during the break, and since then I have rarely paid the rent by check.

  3. Why is there a service charge for mobile payment? This is very unfair. I have never been charged any service fees when I paid my rent online.

  4. Payment needs to fill in complicated card information, if they can access Paypal or Venmo, it will be more convenient I think.

Experts Interview Questions

  • Could you please tell me some background about yourself? How long have you been a UX designer?

  • Base on your background, which part of your work do you like best?  How is UX useful in your daily life?

  • What do you think is the most important skill as a UX designer?

  • Have you designed any app? What do you think app designers need to pay attention to?

  • Have you ever used your mobile app to pay for your rent? Or have you used other mobile payment apps?

  • How do you evaluate these apps from an expert perspective?

  • Now, I am redesigning the rent payment App which is called My Equity. Can I take a few minutes to show it to you? From your professional point of view, what do you think My Equity app needs to improve, or do you have any good advice to make it better?

Conclusion & Key Points

  1. There are many positions in the UX, and they require different skills. But I think the important skills at work are cooperation and communication.

  2. Progress prompts to guide the user through the payment process and tell them when they can complete all operations. Each time a step is completed, there will be a completion mark after the step, which is a visual cue that lets the users know that they are one step closer to completing the payment.

  3. Ask the user if they want to save the current payment method. You can create a page that allows them to choose between a credit card, a PayPal account, or any payment method they used in the past.

  4. Before the user completes the payment, you can provide complete summary information by providing a final confirmation page.
